HYDERABAD: The state government in principle has decided to create 17
more new districts which will take the total number of districts to 27
in the state.
After a six-hour long exercise on the report submitted by the Cabinet sub-committee on new districts, the special chief secretary (revenue) Pradeep Chandra invited seven political parties to the all- party meeting to be held on August 20 on the reorganisation of districts.
In a single page invite, the government invited TRS, Congress, AIMIM, BJP, CPI, CPM and TDP for the all-party meeting. Immediately after receiving the letter from the government, CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy protested that the letter had no draft proposals. “We would also like to know who will be interacting with the political parties on this subject. Whether chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will be attending the all-party meeting or not? I request you to send note on the draft proposal to make our concrete suggestions on this subject," Venkat Reddy said in his reply.

"All political parties are informed that the state government has decided to conduct an all-party meeting on August 20 at 2 p.m. at C Block, 6th floor in the Telangana Secretariat regarding formation of new districts in the state. All the political parties are requested to depute one or two members of each party for discussion on the proposed new districts in the Telangana. You are requested to intimate the names of the persons attending the meeting so that necessary arrangements can be made."
17 new districts
The state government has proposed to have 17 new districts and an increase in the revenue divisions from the existing 44 to 74, while mandals from 459 to 533.
After the all-party meeting, the government will issue the draft notification and a month's time will be given to general public to air their views.

Mancherial, Adilabad, Nirmal, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jagtial, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Bhoopalpally, Siddipet, Medak, Sangareddy, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Khammam, Kothagudem, Hyderabad (old), Vikarabad, Shamshabad and Malkajgiri.
