TRS has ruled out of its merger with Congress

Telangana Rashtra Samiti has ruled out its merger  with the Congress. TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, in a stinging attack on the Congress, said it was continuing the tradition of betraying the people of Telangana.
Addressing a meeting at Vikarabad town of Ranga Reddy district, marking the 11th anniversary of the formation of TRS, Chandrasekhar Rao said that the Congress had trampled on all the agreements including the gentleman’s agreement with the people of Telangana region.
“Where is the need of TRS merging with the Congress,” he pointing out that the TRS had proved all those people wrong who had predicted that the newly launched party will wind up in a few months. “We have emerged as the strongest voice of Telangana people and will continue our fight till the goal of Telangana State is achieved,” he said.
“Congress betrayed us even after President APJ Abdul Kalam promised on the floor of Parliament that Telangana State will be formed,” he said. He also vehemently targeted the Telugu Desam Party and its leader N Chandrababu Naidu. “They backstabbed the TRS in the last elections just like Congress had done in the previous election,” he said. “Telugu Desam will be wiped out in Telangana by the TRS,” he insisted.
Describing the suspension of the 8 Congress members of Lok Sabha from Telangana region as an “insult of the people of Telangana,” KCR advised the Congress MPs to quit the party and join the struggle for Telangana.
“If they have any self-respect they should stop touching the feet of the Congress leadership and fight along with us,” he said.
Meanwhile, TDP suffered yet another jolt in the region as the former Director General of Police P Ramulu resigned from the party and joined the TRS at the foundation day celebrations.
He was formally welcomed in to the party by KCR.
“I am joining the TRS because of the spate of suicides by Telangana students and youth for the separate State. I want to reassure them that we will fight hard to achieve the State. I appeal to them not to take extreme steps,” he said.
