T Congress MP's Asked Nalini to Call off her Fast

New Delhi: Telangana Congress MPs on Monday visited former DSP Nalini who has been on an indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar and suggested that she withdraw her fast-unto-death.

Though the MPs expressed their solidarity with her protest in favour of Telangana cause, they “felt ashamed that even youth like Nalini, who were actually in government service, had to leave the job and begin agitation for Telangana cause.” Their appeal to withdraw from the fast was met with silence from Nalini.

Congress Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao and his Lok Sabha counterparts Ponnam Prabhakar, Manda Jagannath, G Vivek and Sircilla Rajaiah expressed their solidarity with Nalini.
Speaking to media persons, Keshava Rao said: “I feel ashamed that Nalini had to undertake this fast. I appeal to her to withdraw her fast. We promise to take forward the fight for Telangana together by involving all sections of the people.”

MPs Ponnam Prabhakar and Manda Jagannath said that Nalini had to resign her job in the police department as her superiors wanted her to implement their orders, which called for suppression of the Telanagana movement. “Only because she could not implement those orders against her conscience, Nalini resigned,” Prabhakar said.

Jagannath found fault with Telangana Congress MLAs for not utilising the recent No-confidence motion to corner the state government on the Telangana issue.
