Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, on his way back to India last night from the SAARC Summit, had told journalists that there won't be any final decision about the separate statehood for Telangana unless there is consensus from all concerned.
"Telangana is a complicated matter and we are trying to evolve a consensus where all shades of public opinion would agree that what is being done is in interest of each and everyone. We cannot solve the problem of Telangana by agreeing to Telangana being while there is disquiet and unrest in other regions of Andhra Pradesh from frying pan to the fire is not an appropriate solution to national problem," Prime Minister said on board his special aircraft.
Dr Singh was replying to a question from journalists while returning from Maldives as to what his government was doing in Andhra Pradesh where a serious situation has evolved on Telangana issue.
"As for an appropriate solution, we will work to find a practical ways and means so that all the stakeholders can agree to accept a solution," the Prime Minister said.
The convener of the Telangana Joint Action Committee Prof. Kodandaram said that that the time has come to “bury” the Congress. “Only then will Telangana will be achieved,” he said.
The BJP leader, Kishan Reddy, said with the Prime Minister statement, it is quite evident that the Congress will not give Telangana. “The people have to now get ready to get Telangana only under the NDA in 2014.” The Telangana Telugu Desam forum leader.
Mr Errabelli Dayakar Rao, said that the forum would meet on Sunday morning at 11 am and take stock of the situation in view of the latest developments following the Prime Minister’s statement.
